Health Services – September 2010 Rebecca Harrill We have finished 110 wellbeing interviews in recent months for enlistment. Out of that number we have 5 kids with asthma care arranges - educating with family and staff. Eastfield finished their 90 day Dental due date with all youngsters seeing dental practitioner. We have had 3 affirmed instances of strep throat, 1 instance of head lice, 3 instances of hand –foot –and mouth malady educating finished with staff and family on all. As of now chipping away at Dental day for Sept. 30 th for Sugar Hill. Proceed with record checks and classroom checks

ABOUT US We serve Infants and Toddlers from six weeks to three years of age at the middle. We additionally serve pregnant mothers and twelve home based families. Our system is open from 6:00 am until 5:30 pm. We are entire day and entire year.

WHAT IS UP? We are having a book reasonable this week. The kids appreciated water day two days for each week all mid year. The kids planted a greenery enclosure (which the groundhogs appreciated). We will have a Home Based Socialization Friday. Marion Fire Dept. will bring the Fire Truck one week from now. We are observing Hispanic Heritage this week.

DRILLS AND INSPECTIONS The flame drill and play area investigations have been done for the current month. Classroom perceptions have been finished during the current month. Progress Reports and Home Visits are being directed by educators this month. Month to month staff gatherings have been held.

TRAINING The Early Head Start Staff have gone to the accompanying preparing occasions: SIDS, Language and Literacy for Infants and Toddlers, ITERS and ECERS Rating Scale, Infant and Toddler Temperament, Social and Emotional Milestones, Primary Caregivers, Child Abuse and Neglect, Nutrition, Health, Mental Health, Transportation, Family Involvement, Poverty Simulation. If you don\'t mind come and visit with us we acknowledge volunteer time and would love for you to see the inside. Report for Policy Council Tuesday, September 23, 2010 Jennifer Pitman Education/Literacy & Disabilities Coordinator * The begin of our new year has been smooth. The kids appear to change well and the new instructors have become alright. Every one of the classrooms look extraordinary. I am expecting an energizing and compensating school year. * Teachers have completed their home visits, and are starting to record perceptions for the youngsters\' evaluations. The Book Fair has been here this month. It was here at Sugar Hill for a week and after that at Early Head Start. It will advantage our classes, our Parent Lending Library, and Teacher Resource Center. There will be a few of our instructors at both Head Start and Early Head Start that will go to the 2010 NCAEYC Conference. They have consented to return and impart the data to whatever is left of utilization amid a booked Lead Teacher Meeting. Our Children with IEP\'s have begun accepting administrations from ECP. We have 2 current Referrals in procedure and no less than 3 to start with phases of Referral.

Policy Council Report September 23 rd , 2010 Transportation: Head Start at present has four (4) Bus Routes: Nebo, Eastfield, Old Fort, and North Cove. Head Start right now transports around 60 youngsters once a day. The Head Start Classrooms have taken four (4) Field Trips so far this school year. Every one of the four classrooms went by the Apple Orchard. The first of three Emergency Bus Evacuation Drills are in progress. The following two will be finished in January and May. I finished Transportation, Bus and Pedestrian Safety Training for staff on August 27 th . A Transportation Expense Report is Attached.

September 23rd, 2010 Mental Health: Dr. Jim Robinson was at Early Head Start on August nineteenth and at Sugar Hill Head Start on September sixteenth for Parent and Staff Consultations. Dr. Jim Robinson has finished one (1) youngster perception since school started. The Care Team held a meeting with the guardians to talk about the outcomes. There has been no (0) Mental Health Child Referrals. All Preschool Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants had CSEFEL (Center for Social Emotional Foundations of Early Learning) Training on August eighteenth. Dr. Jim Robinson gave Mental Health Training to all Head Start Staff on August 26th.

Policy Council Report (Cont.) September 23rd, 2010 Volunteer Services: I gave the Head Start Staff with Parent Involvement and Inkind Training on August 27th. On September 14 th We had a Parent Meeting on "Wellbeing". Which included data on Transportation, Bus, and Pedestrian Safety, Car Seat Laws, and Home and School Safety. The presentation was given by Jack Wood from the Marion Police Dept. On September 17 th we had a Fabulous Fathers/Marvelous Moms Outing at the WNC Nature Center. We had 64 in participation! Child Care Licensure 7/15: Met with Eastfield Principal to audit DCD Monitoring Notebook. 7/20: DCD visit @ Sugar Hill. 3 year appraised permit reestablished—keeps up 5 star rating. 8/3: DCD visit @ Sugar Hill. TA visit to survey play area surfacing & gear. 8/5: Met with Old Fort Principal to survey DCD Monitoring Notebook. 8/6: DCD/DSS visit @ Sugar Hill. 8/9: DCD/DSS visit @ Sugar Hill. Rock on the SH & OF play area is not pea rock per DCD rock evaluation. Be that as it may, DCD gave a letter of endorsement in light of receipt of an Enhanced Playground Plan w/marks. The arrangement was submitted 9/13.
