Slide2The Reason for Rain and SnowBy: Justin Smedley Every year Persephone  must return to the underworld with Hades for 4 months.  During this time her mother Demeter stops plants from growing and makes the leaves fall off the trees. She cries and her tears fall from Mount Olympus and her tears freeze to  become snow. When her daughter finally returns  the land is reborn and comes out of the cold, plants grow once again. Demeter cries tears of joy because her daughter is back and they fall from Mount Olympus as Rain. Sometimes when Demeter is very sad and crying Zeus tries to cheer her up with a dazzling light show of lightning and thunder. Slide4In a  sea-  town  on the  Aegeus  sea,  there  lived a  woman  named  Calidria. Now,  as  it  happened  to  be, there  also  was  a  man named  Aegaeon  who  lived  in that  same  town.  cALidria was   smart,  kind,  and beautiful.  Aegaeon  was handsome,  clever,  but  also selfish  and  insincere. Calidria  loved  to  watch the  little  birds  on  the beach  when  she  needed  a break.   She  spent  her time  down  on  the  beach during  these  breaks.  She often  thought  of  all  that was  happening  in  her  little town.  Aegaeon  was  always the  hot  topic  to  discuss among  the  women  at  the well  in  the  mornings.  They were  Always  talking  about one  scandal  or  another and  the  cause  was  always aegaeon.  Always. When  one  day  aegaeon came  pursuing  her,  she thought  he  was  coming  to talk  to  her.  And  She would  like  to  stay  away form  him!  so  she  called out  to  Athena.   “help!  Mighty Athena  save  me  from aegaeon!”  Athena  heard her  cry  and  turned  her into  one  of  the  little birds,  sandpipers,  that she  loved.  Then  Calidria, in  bird  form,  flew  out  to sea.  She  returned  every once  in  a  while  to  walk along   the  beach  of  her little  town. Slide6      Marvlin and Poseidon By: Abby Keehn There once was a man-fish named Marvlin. He thought he was the best at everything he did in the water.  His main character trait is to swim. Marvlin thought no one could beat him in a race. So once when there was a race under the sea. Poseidon didn’t know about it. When Marvlin was saying things like no one can beat me I am the best, ha ha ha ha, if anyone dares to beat me we would have to race deep under the sea and see who is really better. So when Poseidon herd Marvlin talking he felt very angry and astonished. He went to the race and acted like a normal person. No one knew he was Poseidon. So when he got to the race Poseidon said “ I herd what you said about no one beating you, well guess what I am in the race and I am going to beat you”! So when the race started Poseidon was behind at first. Since he new the whole sea he didn’t want to waste his energy in the beginning. Poseidon knew short cuts where Marvlin did not. Poseidon took those short cuts and towards the end of the race Poseidon won. When Marvlin caught up to the end he said “well you cheated”. However, he didn’t know Poseidon was a god. Poseidon grabbed Marvlin and threw him in the sea jail where all bad man-fish go. Obituary Hephaestus Died: August 19 th,  1883 Hephaestus had a tragic accident by playing with fire spinners. Hope you are able to make it.

Slide7Have you ever lied before? Or been lied to?Don’t even think about lying about that. So why does EVERYBODY lie It was a sunny day on earth  while Del, a human, was  day dreaming about her love Zues. Some one was knocking on Del’s door so she walked over to open the door to see  who it was.  To Del’s surprise it was the god Hera! Del went down on her knee’s and said “Hera how may I help you I will help you in any way.”  Hera had come to Del’s house because since she is a god she can read peoples minds she was very protective when it came to her husband Zues. She hated when anybody likes Zues. And since Del liked Zues Hera automatically Del. “ I was around and wanted to stop by.” Said Hera. “great! Would you like some tea.” Del said happily. Hera hated how nice Del was being, of course she knew Zues and her were married. Everyone knew. Everyone. “ok” Hera agreed the only reason she agreed was so she could get Del to admit that she loved Zues. After five minutes of quietly sipping tea and dunking cookies Hera took up the question. “ so Del do you like anyone.”  “No.” Del answered  fast for she knew that Hera was the wife of zues. “are you sure about that?” Hera said critically for she knew  it was not the truth. “ I am sure, I-I-I” said Del nervously “Oh spit out all ready”  Hera said harshly. “Hera, I promise I do not like anyone I swear to all the gods.” Del said fake. Hera was deeply offended by this. “ swearing- to the gods when something IS NOT TRUE! How dare you! Who do you think you are telling lies to me! Who? who who!” Hera was furious. Del was speechless, how did Hera know she was lying.

Slide8“do you know how it feels to bethis way.  To be lied to.” Hera said . “of course you have no response, because you have never been lied to. Oh Del soon you will feel it. And it will be the worst thing you have ever felt.” Then BOOM Hera quickly went away. The next day Zues came down to del’s house and said “ Del you look so beautiful, lets run away together to mount olympus, escape this crazy world” Forgetting all about Hera  and everything else  in the world over whelmed by her love,  Del said “yes!!!” “haha you didn’t actually believe me did you? HA. My wife Hera told me all about you and now you know how it feels.” and poof zues was gone in a flash. Del continued to be lied to and felt so horrible for what was happening. This is why people feel so bad when they are lied to and even when they lie.  And it was all because of Del and her lie.

Slide9The Creation of the SunOne day a man named, Ethan, also son of Zeus asked Zeus while standing on top of Mt.Olympus, “Why is the world down there so dark?” Zeus replied, “I don’t know son, maybe it’s because of no good light source. “Hmmmm?” thought Ethan. What could I do to help? Ethan thought day and night, night and day and couldn’t figure anything out. One night he got it! He thought to himself, “I will build it out of fire and call it the Sun.” Ethan told Zeus about his idea and Zeus was furious of the thought of his own son using fire, the one and only thing Prometheus gave to Man, behind his wishes. Zeus said no and that was the final word. Ethan was angry at Zeus until he got an idea. Ethan woke up early that morning and set out on his quest. He decided to go behind Zeus’ wishes and complete the idea. Ethan talked to Hermes and asked him to help with stealing fire from Hephaestus, god of fire. Hermes, god of theft, agreed to help and embark with him on this journey. Hermes got the fire and said good luck to Ethan and left. Ethan started to build the Sun and when he finished he called for Hermes  once again, but this time he asked Hermes to put the Sun into the sky. Hermes agreed and did as asked. Ethan was successful. Zeus awakened later that day and saw what happened. Zeus was furious and bellowed so loudly all of Mt.Olympus shook. Ethan was punished by Zeus by being shot with Zeus’s thunderbolt. Since Ethan wasn’t alive anymore Man started to worship Apollo, now the god of sunlight. Thus, the creation of the Sun.

Slide11By: Olivia AtkinsonOn a cold winter day in mount olympus, Epimetheus decided he wanted to know what his dog was thinking. Epimetheus was always wondering if his dog was hungry, upset, cold or hot. Epimeththeus loved his god to death and gave him all of his attention but didn’t understand if he was happy. When he left he gave his dog a treat and a bone to chew on but certinally he would bring his dog with him everywhere if he was allowed . Epimetheus god of animals decided he wanted all dogs to speak because he wanted to know what his dog was thinking and he thought it would also do good for others. He gave all dogs the power to speak. Zues god of everything, had a little brown dog named bailey. Bailey didn’t like Zues because Zues wouldn’t give her attention when Bailey would follow him everywhere Zues woujld just ignore her and Bailey didn’t like that. Bailey said where are you going Zues? Zeus ignored her. Bailey felt alone and Zues didn’t know anything about her he just thought of Bailey as a pet nothing more. So bailey said to Zues why are you god of everything? Epimetheus followed his order and made all dogs not talk but what Zues didn’t know was that he made just his dog be able to talk. The moral of the story is think before you speak. Obituary Poseidon Death January 5, 1998 Unfortunately Poseidon died by surfing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. He will be Buried at sea.

Slide13King  Minos  and RaindorusBy:  Olga Dunlap Your going to go out to walk your dog, when you here  the thunder rumble . You know it’s going to rain. You run home and get inside and it starts to downpour. Raindorus is the god of rain. When it rains Raindorus is upset.  On mount Olympus,  Raindorus  was grooming  her little cat. She was  having  a good day until king Minos came to see her. It all changed the clouds  grew dark and king  minos wanted her cute little cat to be his pet. King minos always  wanted a cat and he is always greedy never says please. So, one day Raindorus  was out to go to get her father some  gold.  A voice was misting in the air and it said “ Give me the cat or a revenge will ourr”. King Minos is the one that gave the  speech to Raindorus. Raindorus went to the king and was very upset to give her cat away so, she was crying out in tears. The king then  took the cat and replaced the cat and gave Raindorus  a dog instead. She was so glad she was happy until the king came back to ruin her life. This is how we get rainy days and sunny days.

Slide14Obitchuary : RaindorusRaindorus was born on July 23, 1734 and died on September 15, 2001 She worked to give rain to people and to water plants. She was  sweet got killded by shotgun.

Slide16           Theseus and the SerpentFrom the depths of the ocean a titan emerged from molten lava it was born. . . Meanwhile Theseus was on a  journey traveling from shore to shore.   He was on the hunt for a new adventure after he had defeated the Minotaur. He was getting bored of  relaxing and having nothing to do.  So after he had gone to a couple islands. He began to here stories of disappearing ships and even entire fleets.  So he took this opportunity to find and kill this evil creature.  Then while on his way to the next island he saw  a fairly large fishing ship.  Then as Theseus and his crew  past  he looked over to see the entire ship rapped in giant tentacles. “BATTLE STAITONS” the captain hollered.  “ARCHERS FIRE” “SOOT SHOOOT”.  The sounds of the arrows was music to Theseus’s ears. “Get the axe” one man yelled as the tentacles rapped around the ship.  “Chop Chop” the tentacles were being cut off then the head appeared Theseus lunged forward and stabbed his spear right into its brain.  Then it sang into the depths back from witch it came.

Slide18We all know the legend  of Arachne, but didit really end there? Was she just turned into a spider and that’s it?  Many people have wondered and told theories about how it went on, but those are all just guesses. Only I know the truth. Because Arachne was my sister. I am Airrene. It all started when Athena turned Arachne into a spider because she challenged Athena and then wove the gods doing bad deeds and well, you know the rest. Arachne grew eight legs, and shrinked down to the size of a quarter. Anyway, it definitely did not end there. In fact it was even close to ending. After Athena was satisfied with her work, she left. Just like that, she just left. Of course I was hiding behind a curtain, I wasn’t exactly the bravest person, but I did come out and try to comfort my sister. I held her in my hands and thought that she was a lot cuter as a spider, but I knew Arachne wouldn’t just continue being a spider and not get revenge on Athena. I knew what needed to be done. She wanted revenge and I was going to help her. Plus, I didn’t really have a choice she would’ve bitten me if I didn’t. So, I carried Arachne to the towns witch. The witch took pity on Arachne and choose to help her, but the spell she cast, to make Arachne human again, wouldn’t last forever. It would only last for 3 days and 2 nights. The witch made sure we knew that. She must’ve said it over 50 times. Anyway, once Arachne was human again, she told me her plan. It wasn’t smart at all. She wanted to ask the witch to take us to the god, Athena, and Katherine Mckenzie then Arachne would charge at her and try to kill her. Didn’t she learn anything while she had a mind smaller than a nut? Nope. So, instead of her “brilliant” plan we went with one more logical and simpler. We would find our own way up to Athena (mostly cause the witch scares me, even if she did help us). Then, beg her forgiveness and promise, if she changes Arachne back into a human for good we will always praise the gods and warn others of their powers. So with the plan set we set off for the journey. We arrived in chains at Athena's feet, unconscious, I had no idea what had happened, but then I realized where we were. We were back in the witches house. Athena, changed herself into the witch and of course overheard our plans. She probably hit us over the head or something. Anyway, she was furious that we would try to ask for her forgiveness after all Arachne did, but was impressed with my bravery. So, instead of changing Arachne back she gave Arachne a boy so be a spider with her, a friend. Also, she let us leave. As long as we didn’t question the gods EVER again. We didn’t.

Slide19Prometheus was one of thetitans. One day he was gazing upon the humans. It struck Prometheus when the men had food and couldn’t warm it. Also at night when it would become cold man had nothing to stay warm. When finally it came to him. HE WAS GOING TO GIVE MAN THE POWER OF FIRE!!! When he came to his father Zeus denied his idea of giving man fire. This angered Prometheus. He was going to get the fire from Zeus no matter what it took. That night Prometheus could do nothing but think all night of how he was going to steal fire from his father Zeus. After thinking long and hard it came to Prometheus. He was going to use his power of theft. When his father was asleep Prometheus snuck into his room as quiet as a butterfly, he went to his fathers box of power, where the fire lied. As he slowly approached the lock of the box, an alarm sounded. Prometheus’s fight for fire As Prometheus looked around for an escape he heard the roar of his angry father. With no hesitation Prometheus ran away from the box and returned to his home in which the thinking would continue. As Prometheus thought more His father Zeus came bursting through the door outraged. He demanded why Prometheus would defy him and try to steal the fire. Acting like he had no clue of what Zeus was talking about Prometheus told Zeus he had no clue of what he was talking about. Not satisfied Zeus grabbed Prometheus and put him in a bag. When Zeus released Prometheus from the bag he had realized that he was tied to the top of Mt. Olympus. Everyday he would just sit tied to the mountain for 500000000000000 years. Until one day his brother Hercules came to him and unchained his brother. Thank you brother said Prometheus. I have good news for you said Hercules. I have defeated our father and have gave man the power of fire. And from that day forth man has had the power to use fire.   BY KYLE BUTTS
