Slide4Class Activity Background• The mayor and the city council agreed that they both want to protect the city’s children and to keep them out of trouble at night. They want parents to be in control of their children and to know where their children are. They also want children to be rested and ready for school.

Slide5The Law to be Considered• The mayor proposed the following curfew law, which the city council passed. The law reads: • NO CHILDREN IN THE STREETS AT NIGHT.

Slide6Class Activity Instructions:Interpretation of the Law • Some disputes have arisen over the interpretation of the law. Decide whether the law has been violated in each of the following scenarios. • Keep in mind the  actual  wording of the law and the intent  of the law. • On your separate sheet of paper: – Write question # – Is it a violation? Yes or No – 1 sentence justification
