Slide3Africa’s 4 Regions Sahara - the farthest north. The world’s largest desert. Sahel- divides the desert from wetter areas. It has enough vegetation to support hardy grazing animals. Savannah - or open grass with scattered trees. Grazing animals are common there. Rain forest- densely wooded forest. This area receives a lot of rain and many plants and animals are here.
